Introduction
The inclusion of flowers at the altar and in the chapel is a traditional and integral part of liturgical celebrations. The St. Mark’s Flower Guild is comprised of a Flower Guild Chairperson/s and four (4) teams of church members. The Chairperson is responsible for the overall performance of the teams, funding for the purchase of supplies and flowers and to represent the Flower Guild within the overall operation of St. Mark’s.
Budget
The weekly budget for flowers is $50.00. Each team is responsible for the purchase of flowers within the budget limit. Flowers can be purchased from, but not limited to, the following local sources; Publix, BJ’s, various florists. A Publix card is available in the sacristy for flower purchases at Publix only. Flowers purchased and paid for at other sources can have the receipt submitted to the Alter Guild mailbox at the Church for reimbursement.
The budget for flowers for specific celebratory occasions; i.e., All Saints, Christmas, and Easter will be established by the Chairperson.
The purchase of supplies ie oasis, flower preservative, brass cleaner will be made separate from the weekly flower budget. Team members should notify the Chairperson when supply levels are low so they can ensure sufficient stocking levels.

Arrangement Guidelines
Assigned teams should plan to meet at the church and prepare arrangements on each Friday so flowers will be fresh for Sunday services. Arrangements should be checked on Sunday and then, again, mid week for watering or deadheading.
As each flower stem is cut on an angle, it should be dipped into a prepared mixture of water and flower preservative.
The two (2) altar arrangements should not significantly encroach into the height of the central cross located between the two arrangements.
The two (2) altar arrangements should not be made so full that they impede passage by people between the back wall of the altar and the altar table.
Each of the two (2) altar arrangements are not required to be identical but, should be similar in design. This will require coordination between team members.
The chapel flower arrangement should coordinate with the altar flowers in type and color as much as possible. Any additional flowers and greenery can be used to make arrangement/s for the church foyer area.
